Paintings
"My goal is to combine close observation with an intuitive, visceral response to the overall environment. The paintings are a record of
the total sensory experience of being in particular place and a particular time."
James Tatum moved from Canada to the UK in 1987. James has drawn and painted for most of his life. After a long career in industrial design and engineering, he moved from London to Devon in 2007 in order to paint full time.
His landscape paintings begin en plein air with a series of drawings, watercolours and acrylics, and are completed in his studio.
He regularly exhibits throughout the UK and in the USA, Holland and Switzerland. James is also a popular art teacher.
His paintings are in collections in the UK, Holland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.
